A city in Mexico, precisely on Tijuana Beach, becomes a fertile place for the converts. The Muslim population has continued to increase. They also claimed to be happy to live in the city.
Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of San Diego, Dr Khaleel Mohammed, said, many Mexican citizens who see Islam offer different things from other religions. Muslims there are very tolerances at local traditional values. So, many interested citizens then studied Islam.
For the facilities of worship, the converts were also welcomed in the Masjid Al Islam which has just stood in the city. The Islamic Center was later built there as a place where Muslims forged religious sciences and built converts.
One of California's converts, Amir Carr, claimed to be happy to be converted. His wife was Mexican, so Carr then chose to live in the Latin country. The two later lived in Tijuana and became acquainted with Islam. "Islam really changed my life," Carr said.
Other converts, Samuel Cortes, also felt the same thing. He was an immigrant. When visiting Tijuana, he then got his hidayah. He was reluctant to return to his home in the US and still wanted to live in the Mexican coastal area. It's just that he has to go back because his family is in the US.
Based on a survey last year by WhyIslam, the Latin society did take 19 percent of the number of Islamic converts in America. The Latin converts were predominantly female. Since 2000, the female Latin converts have even continued to experience an increase of up to eight percent.
